FRANKLIN, Ind. – Brandy Cochran, 41, of Franklin, appeared in Johnson Superior Court 3 on Tuesday for a jury trial relating to multiple drug charges. It stemmed from an incident involving a group of suspicious individuals near a retention pond on US 31, in July 2017.
At the time, the Franklin Police Department responded to the area and found Cochran apparently smoking marijuana. After being given consent to search her bag, officers reportedly found a baggie inside that contained methamphetamine. Police also say that a Franklin K-9 picked up the smell of drugs inside Cochran’s car, which led to the discovery of more meth.
The jury deliberated for just under 20 minutes before returning with a guilty verdict on both counts. Cochran faces up to 30 months on the methamphetamine charge. Her sentencing is set for April.
