INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Monday that the August unemployment rates decreased for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, and Jennings counties compared to July.
For Bartholomew County, the August rate was 3.7%, down from July’s 4.3%. The county reported 42,671 employed residents out of a 44,311-person labor force.
Johnson County’s August rate was 3.5%, a decrease from the July number of 4.0%. Employed workers totaled 86,780 from a possible 89,942.
The Jennings County rate for August was 4.0%, compared to 4.3% in July. There were 13,417 workers out of a possible 13,976.
Jackson County recorded a 3.6% August unemployment rate, below the 4.1% rate it registered last month. The county reported 22,391 employed residents out of a 23,217-person labor force.
Indiana DWD officials announced last week that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for August was 4.2%, a slight increase from 4.0% in July.
