COLUMBUS, Ind. – It’s week five of the high school football season in Indiana, and at halftime on Friday night, the regular season will be halfway over.
The East Olympians are on the road this week after four straight weeks in Columbus to take on New Albany. Both teams are undefeated in the Hoosier Hills Conference, so this game has major implications in the race for an HHC Championship. East is coming off a 62-7 win over Jennings County. Columbus North is on the road to Bishop Chatard in Indianapolis on Friday evening. The Trojans are 3-1 and ranked fifth in the 4A. They are the defending state champions from last year’s 3A tourney. North is 4-0 and got a big win last week over Indianapolis Roncalli and is ranked eighth in 6A. The Bulldogs will have some key players out with injuries.
In the Johnson County Game of the Week, the Whiteland Warriors host Perry Meridian. Whiteland is 2-1 after topping Franklin last week. Perry Meridian is 2-2 following a loss last week to highly ranked and unbeaten Plainfield. Jason Newhouse and Steve Stuart will have this game for listeners at 6:45 p.m. on KORN Country 100.3.
Jennings County is still looking for its first win of the season, as the team is on the road against Madison for the annual Battle for the Railroad. The two teams have alternated wins every year since 2013. The Panthers defeated Madison last season. Joe Ammerman and Mark Sorrels will have the broadcast on 97.7 and 1460 WJCP.
