SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Jackson County Public Library (JCPL) and the Jackson County Clerk’s office are partnering for National Voter Registration Day this Tuesday.
Jackson County Clerk Piper Shoemaker will be at the JCPL Seymour branch to assist with registration or to answer questions about current registration status on September 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To register, people must be U.S. citizens, present a driver’s license or state I.D. card, and be 18 by the next Election Day (Tuesday, November 5). Registration forms are available at all JCPL locations or on the library website.
National Voter Registration Day began in 2012. It is designed to create an annual moment when the nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right—the right to vote.
Americans can register at hundreds of nationwide events and the non-partisan group website, NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org. Online registration is also available at indianavoters.in.gov.
