GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Police Department (GPD) responded to the area of West County Line Road and Meridian Street, after receiving a report of a person being shot on Friday, just before 6:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a 35-year-old Greenwood resident, later identified as Thomas Jefferson. The victim had sustained several non-life-threatening gunshots to his leg and arm.
Jefferson was taken by ambulance to IU Health Methodist Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
It was determined that the incident took place nearby at 61 W. County Line Rd., in Greenwood. At the residence, officers spoke with the person allegedly responsible for the shooting, 59-year-old Randell Emberton.
It was established that he and Jefferson were well acquainted. Emberton was taken into custody by Greenwood detectives.
This case is ongoing and fluid. GPD is working closely with the Johnson County Prosecutors Office which will determine if and what charges may be filed in the future.
