COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Indiana Bar Foundation recently presented a $1.65 million grant to Pro Bono Indiana (PBI) to provide civil legal aid to low-income Hoosiers.
The award was part of a larger announcement of a $4.4 million award distributed by the Foundation to support similar organizations around the state.
PBI has several local offices throughout the state, including the River Valley Legal Aid in Columbus. It offers many attorney volunteer opportunities including brief service clinics, virtual sessions, by phone or online, and tailored placements with volunteer attorneys and paraprofessionals to assist low-income and vulnerable Hoosiers with civil legal services.
Pro Bobo teams with community partners, courts, and local bar associations to enhance services.
Clinics served 6,740 clients statewide in 2023, an increase from 3,853 the previous year.
