NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Recently, twenty-one new troopers graduated from the 85th Indiana State Police Academy. One of those probationary troopers is being assigned to the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and will begin his next training phase while patrolling with veteran troopers. Upon completion, he will be assigned a state patrol vehicle and begin solo patrol.
These officers have already completed over 800 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques and hands-on training at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. The curriculum included criminal and traffic law instruction, emergency vehicle operations, psychology, crash investigation, self-defense, first responder, and other general law enforcement-related training.
Trooper Mark Naylor is the new officer assigned to the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post. Trooper Naylor, 35, graduated from Jennings County High School and Indiana University. He then served with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office from 2013-2015 and the Greensburg Police Department from 2015 until getting accepted into the Indiana State Police Academy this year.
Trooper Naylor and his family live in Decatur County.
