COLUMBUS, Ind. – United Way of Bartholomew County has announced that its Kickoff Lunch and Day of Service are scheduled for Sept.12. The events mark the traditional start of United Way’s annual impact campaign and hope to help lift local families out of poverty.
Day of Service is a full-day volunteer event that connects businesses and community members with non-profit agencies and organizations to complete essential work. Volunteers can register starting Aug. 28 by visiting uwbarthco.org and clicking, “Volunteer.”
Amazing Joe’s, on Central Avenue, hosts the Kickoff Lunch. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, Aug. 1, for $20 each, and can be purchased here. Diners can choose between the 11 a.m. or noon seatings.
Organizers encourage you to buy tickets as soon as they become available, as they expect a sell-out. Attendees will have a chance to win a year of free dinners from Amazing Joe’s. All proceeds from the lunch will support United Way of Bartholomew County’s campaign.
“Sept. 12 will be an inspiring day as we unite to celebrate the impact we have on one another and our community,” said Magen Pillar, Director of Communications for United Way of Bartholomew County. “Our bold goal is to lift 1,000 families out of poverty in 2,000 days, and this requires the efforts of everyone – from advocates and volunteers to donors and our certified and mission partner agencies.”
