EDINBURGH, Ind. – Edinburgh Community School Corporation will be the first of the area schools to resume classes. Students are expected to be in the classroom bright and early on Thursday, July 25.
Edinburgh students and staff will start the school year led by an interim superintendent, Dr. James Halik. Dr. Halik will take over the position vacated by Dr. Ronald Ross’s departure. In a statement to the community, Dr. Halik, a lifelong resident of Johnson County, stated he would continue the positive things Dr. Ross implemented and oversee the day-to-day operations of the schools.
“As Interim Superintendent this year, I plan to serve as coach, mentor, and guide on the side for students, teachers, support staff, Board, and community as we make progress together toward the vision and goals of the school corporation,” stated Halik. Halik has spent 26 years as a school superintendent and has served 245 Indiana school corporations in different capacities.
Edinburgh students will see their first break in action at the beginning of September, when they will have September 2 and 3 off for Labor Day. Students and staff will also see a two-week fall break starting October 7, a two-week winter break beginning on December 23, and a two-week spring break commencing on March 10. The final school day is scheduled for May 23, with graduation on June 7.
