COLUMBUS, Ind. – An Indianapolis man, who had two outstanding Johnson County warrants, is in custody after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) discovered a loaded gun and drugs in a vehicle during a routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
While patrolling the 10th Street and McClure Road area at around 1:40 a.m., an officer saw a man in a truck commit a violation. A traffic stop was initiated and while talking to the driver, 47-year-old Erik Hall, the officer noticed a glass smoking pipe with white residue in plain sight inside the vehicle. It tested positive for methamphetamine and the suspect was arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a loaded firearm, a foil packet containing fentanyl, and a crystal-like substance that tested positive for meth. CPD also supposedly found more smoking pipes and drug packaging materials inside the truck bed.
Hall was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail and booked on the preliminary charges of:
- Possession of Meth with a Firearm
- Possession of a Narcotic Drug with a Firearm
- Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of Paraphernalia
