COLUMBUS, Ind. – For the second time in less than 30 hours, a driver has failed to outrun law enforcement in a two-county vehicle pursuit. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) tried to conduct a traffic stop at the River Road and East County Road 550N intersection on Friday just before 1 a.m., but the suspect fled in his car.
A chase ensued that traveled through northern Bartholomew County before continuing north on I-65. The Franklin Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office utilized stop sticks to deflate the suspect’s vehicle tires near the 90-mile marker.
Bargersville Police Department officers then initiated a successful pit maneuver on the car at the 95-mile marker. The driver, later identified as Adam Cameron, 34, of Columbus, was taken into custody.
It appeared that the suspect had multiple self-inflicted lacerations on his body so he was taken to an Indianapolis hospital where he was treated and then delivered back to Bartholomew County.
Cameron was booked into Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold and charged with Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 Felony) and with being a Habitual Traffic Violator (Level 6 Felony).
BCSO says this is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
