COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested on multiple charges after he reportedly kicked and spat at Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers during a disturbance early Monday morning.
Law enforcement responded to a residence in the 3700 block of Candlelight Drive at 3:15 a.m. about a possible domestic disturbance.
When CPD arrived at the home, they spoke with Roberto Flores, 24, of Columbus, who they say appeared to be intoxicated. At one point, the suspect later became aggressive towards the officers who attempted to restrain him. During the struggle, the man allegedly kicked and spat on the officers.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Columbus Regional Health (CRH) for treatment of injuries he sustained before police arrived. While at the hospital, the suspect supposedly threatened, spit on, and kicked the hospital medical staff and officers.
Flores was discharged from CRH and taken to Bartholomew County Jail. He was put on a 48-hour hold and preliminarily charged with two counts of Battery on a Public Safety Official, three counts of Battery by Bodily Waste, Battery, Intimidation, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Disorderly Conduct.
