GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) officials have issued a public safety announcement saying it is time for the smoke and CO detectors that they installed a decade ago to be replaced.
In 2013 GFD participated in a one-time grant program that included firefighters installing free carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in several homes in the community.
The devices came with a 10-year service life, meaning they are now to be disposed of as they are no longer useful.
You can find new CO and smoke detectors at your local hardware store.
If your CO detector is going off and you believe it indicates carbon monoxide, call 911 immediately.
