FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin Community Schools (FCS) has announced that Karle Hougland is the next Northwood Elementary School principal. The FCS Board approved the recommendation at Monday’s meeting.
Hougland returns to Franklin after serving as an assistant administrator at Whiteland Elementary. Prior to that, she was an instructional coach at Custer Baker Intermediate School and Union Elementary. She also spent eight years teaching at Northwood and Union Elementary.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Franklin College and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Butler University.
“I am so excited to return to Franklin Schools and Northwood Elementary, as both are home to me. I am a graduate of Franklin Community High School and Franklin College, completed my student teaching at Northwood Elementary, and taught at Northwood for six years as well,” Hougland said.
FCS Superintendent Dr. Clendening said, “Her background in literacy, her pride in the community, and her proven commitment to growing kids made her the perfect candidate for this role.”
Hougland replaces Andrea Korreck, who will assume a new position at FCS at the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
