GREENWOOD, Ind. – Following his medal-winning efforts at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, swimmer Liam Price has been chosen to represent Indiana and compete as part of the Special Olympics USA team this summer during the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
Price, from Greenwood, has trained and competed with Special Olympics for the past 11 years in basketball, flag football, swimming, and Special Olympics DanceSport in ballroom dance. An active participant in Special Olympics Unified Sports, he served as a former U.S. Youth Ambassador promoting inclusion through advocacy.
Price honed his swimming skills with Special Olympics Indiana-Johnson County. At the 2022 USA Games, he earned gold and silver medals in the 50-meter and 25-meter backstrokes respectively.
A junior at the University of Indianapolis where he studies communication, Price is the first Special Olympics athlete to compete on the school’s swim and dive team. He also volunteers at the White River Township Fire Department, where he works with search and rescue canine Rosie on training techniques to locate missing individuals.
The World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event taking place in 2023, featuring more than 7,000 Special Olympics athletes from over 190 countries.
