UPDATE: LANSING, Mich. – Authorities in Michigan have released the names of the Indiana victims of the small plane crash near Lansing on Thursday, four of which are from Johnson County.
Timothy Clark, 67, of Franklin, John Lowe, 51, of Greenwood, and Neil Sego, 46, of Trafalgar, all perished in the crash. Joel Beavins, 48, of Franklin, Zechariah Bennett, 27, of Plainfield, and Aaron Blackford, 42, of Frankton, are in critical condition at a Lansing hospital.
Original Story – The Lansing Capital Region International Aiport has reported on its Facebook page that a single-engine aircraft, bound for their airport that took off from Indy South Greenwood Airport, crashed in an open field west of the airport, on Thursday, just after 9 a.m.
Airport public safety officers responded with aid from several local law enforcement departments.
There were six people on board the aircraft, including two crew members and four passengers. Three fatalities have been confirmed and three others were transported to a nearby hospital. Names have not been released.
A complete inquiry is necessary to determine the cause of the accident. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
