COLUMBUS, Ind. – Michael Brinegar, of Columbus, competed in his first Olympic event Tuesday morning. The Indiana University standout swam in the Men’s 800 Meter Freestyle race. He finished seventh in his heat with a time of 7:53:00, which did not qualify him for the final.
He still has one more event this Friday. Brinegar will be swimming in the 1500 meter freestyle scheduled to start at 6:45 a.m. He will be in the second of four heats.
If he has one of the top eight times in that event, he will qualify for the 1500 meter freestyle finals which will be televised Saturday night on NBC.
