SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – According to the Shelbyville Police Department (SPD), dispatch received a call last Tuesday from a resident in the Martin Estates apartment complex in Shelbyville. SPD says the complainant said her child, who is under 10 years old, told her about an alleged incident that occurred the previous night.
The child supposedly told her mother than she had been taken from her bed by a male to another apartment in the same complex and touched inappropriately. The child then left the apartment and walked back home.
Later the same evening a second 911 call was made by the mother, who this time stated the male had returned and was trying to gain entry into their apartment. The mother said the man then ran away.
Police say the suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds, and has short dark hair.
The Shelbyville Police Department is continuing its investigation. Anyone with information about the incident should call the SPD Criminal Investigative Division at 317-392-5118.
