COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Public Library (BCPL) announced that The LEX (former North Christian Church building) was vandalized early Friday morning, April 11.
The Columbus Police Department is investigating the break-in.
The LEX is now closed, so the damage incurred can be cleaned up and repaired. BCPL says it is uncertain when it will be reopened.
A spokesperson for BCPL said, “While this is a frustrating development, we want to focus on celebrating the community excitement surrounding The LEX. Over the past week since the ribbon cutting, we have been overwhelmed with stories, kind words, and anticipation regarding what The LEX represents. We are working diligently to open this space so that every community member can experience the property’s beauty.”
