COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management released a flood statement from the National Weather Service extending the Flood Warnings until further notice for the East Fork White River at Columbus, the Driftwood River near Edinburgh, and the Flatrock River near Columbus.
Significant-to-major flooding is expected to develop along the East Fork White River due to several rounds of heavy rainfall through Sunday. About 1 to 3 inches of rain fell Wednesday night across the East Fork White basin. Additional rainfall of 5 to 7 inches is expected through Sunday morning. It will rise above flood stage (9 feet) early Friday morning and crest on Sunday night at 15.1 feet.
The Driftwood River will experience moderate flooding. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Friday and crest on Monday at around 15.2 feet.
Moderate flooding is forecast for the Flatrock River. It will surpass flood stage (11 feet) on Friday morning and crest at 15.7 feet on Monday morning.
