FRANKLIN, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College welcomed 80 high school students to its Franklin campus last Friday to learn about advanced manufacturing career opportunities and the Johnson County Advanced Manufacturing Program (JCAMP).
It is a free, three-year early college program open to all high school students in Johnson County that allows students to graduate from high school earning a full associate’s degree from Ivy Tech in industrial technology with a concentration in mechatronics.
Paid internships at Johnson County advanced manufacturing employers are available for juniors and seniors while in the program.
JCAMP was created as a collaboration among local manufacturing industry employers (Endress and Hauser, NSK, and KYB), Ivy Tech, and local high schools
Students from Center Grove, Whiteland Community, and Greenwood Community High Schools attended. The event featured hands-on activities like learning about motor controls and electronics, and immersive career exploration using virtual reality headsets.
By participating in JCAMP, families can save on college costs while students gain valuable skills and credentials that are highly sought after in the job market.
Ivy Tech, industry partners, and participating high schools will host an information night for students and their parents at 6 p.m. on Feb. 6 at the college’s Franklin campus, 2205 McClain Drive. All Johnson County students and their parents are welcome to attend.
The interested in JCAMP can contact Robin Close at rclose1@ivytech.edu or 317-916-6304.
