COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police donated their time and efforts to the annual Shop With a Cop at the Columbus Walmart on Sunday.
Its purpose is to build positive relationships between local children and law enforcement.
The Earl L. Brown FOP Lodge #89 in Columbus invited the local police agencies to participate in the event and thanked those who donated to this program which provides kids with toys, clothes, and school supplies during the holiday season.
Since 1994, the Shop With a Cop program has provided local youth with a chance to have a better holiday season. Over 100 local children (pre-selected based on needs) get to go shopping with a member of law enforcement.
The non-profit says that 100% of the donations stay in the community and go directly toward purchasing the items. Organizers are already planning for next year and you can contribute to Shop With a Cop, here.
