NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) announced Monday that three teenagers have been taken into custody after a two-week investigation into a shooting that took place earlier this month. JCSO was dispatched to a residence in Campbell Township on November 9 in response to a reported drive-by shooting.
Deputies and detectives from the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division determined that several rounds struck an occupied vehicle, an occupied outbuilding, and a residence where six individuals were inside asleep.
The suspect vehicle was located by North Vernon Police Department officers, who conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Bradley Pike, 18, of Crothersville, and passenger Waylon Baker, 18, of Columbus, were detained and arrested. Both firearms believed to have been used in the shooting were recovered.
As the case progressed, detectives identified a third suspect, Caden Kinser, 18, of Seymour. Kinser was apprehended in North Vernon on November 14 during a coordinated operation conducted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office.
Kinser, Baker, and Pike all face preliminary charges of Criminal Recklessness – Shooting a Firearm into an Inhabited Dwelling (level-5 felony). Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
JCSO said further details, including the identities of witnesses and victims, will not yet be released.
