COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Treasurer Barbara Hackman was recently elected First Vice President of the Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) Board of Directors. She began her term on November 1. AIC Board elections were held in September. She was named Second Vice President in 2023.
“I am excited to continue on the Executive Board as First VP of this great organization serving Indiana’s Local Government Officials,” said Barbara Hackman.
Hackman started in local government as a Matron in the Sheriff’s Department and worked in several different offices/agencies. Since then, she has been elected Township Assessor, County Auditor, and now serves as County Treasurer. Hackman has previously served on the AIC Board while in the Auditor’s Office.
The AIC Board of Directors sets policies and legislative goals for the Association.
The Association of Indiana Counties, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established in 1957. The various functions of the AIC include lobbying the Indiana General Assembly on behalf of counties, serving as liaison among counties, state, and federal agencies, and providing technical assistance and training to county officials and employees.
