WHITELAND, Ind. – The Whiteland Police Department attempted to pull over a motorcycle traveling east on Whiteland Road, from the area of Bob Glidden Boulevard, on Monday evening at around 6:40.
Law enforcement says the motorcyclist didn’t stop and instead, sped away. A pursuit ensued as the motorcycle began to weave in and out of traffic.
As they approached the I-65 overpass on Whiteland Road, a motorist pulled to the shoulder to yield to the chasing officer and the motorcycle struck the rear of that vehicle.
The motorcyclist was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital and was listed in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle that the motorcycle hit reported no injuries.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, Chief Rick Shipp of the Whiteland Police Department requested that the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office handle the investigation.
