FRANKLIN, Ind. – Johnson County Senior Services says Dining in the Dark was very successful. The event was held Wednesday evening at Garment Factory Events in Franklin.
The purpose was to raise awareness of visually impaired seniors and collect donations to help serve older adults. Diners ate their meals with blindfolds over their eyes to experience food and conversation as they may never have before – without their sight. When you can’t see, your remaining senses are rewired to savor the taste and smell of the dining experience. Conversations become more intimate and immediate.
In addition to the meal, the fundraiser featured a silent and live auction.
A spokesperson for Johnson County Senior Services said, “Our cup runneth over with an abundance of gratitude to many amazing individuals who helped make Dining in the Dark so special.”
