COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) attempted to pull over a car that was being driven recklessly near US 31 and Lowell Road last Thursday at around 5 p.m. The driver did not stop.
Deputies pursued the vehicle south on Indianapolis Road and west on State Road 46 as it left Columbus. The chase continued into Brown County and ended near Upper Salt Creek Road and Petro Drive when the suspect vehicle hit a patrol car. There were no injuries.
The driver, Brock Thompson, 30, of Nineveh, was removed from his car and detained. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed narcotics and drug-related items.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment and a blood draw for an operating while intoxicated investigation. When Thompson was released from the hospital, he was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail.
He was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Criminal Recklessness, Operating while Intoxicated – Endangerment, Possession of a Syringe, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
This is a preliminary BCSO investigation. People are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
