JENNINGS/DECATUR COUNTIES, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractor Dave O’Mara Contractors closed State Road 3 between North Vernon and Westport in early May to complete an asphalt resurfacing project in Decatur and Jennings Counties.
Beginning this Monday, August 5, crews begin final paving operations on S.R. 3 between the U.S. 50 bypass and Westport. During this time, access will be maintained for local traffic only. Through traffic will not be permitted during the paving. Motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 50 to U.S. 421 to S.R. 46.
Paving operations should be finished by the end of August and final work will be completed by late October.
This project is part of a $9.3 million contract awarded in August 2023.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near construction zones. Work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
