SELLERSBURG, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) – Sellersburg Post has a new probationary trooper. On Tuesday, January 2, Trooper Wyatt Madden reported for his first day at the ISP Sellersburg Post after graduating from the 84th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December. He was one of 28 new probationary troopers assigned throughout the state.
Madden, a native of Jackson County, is a 2020 Salem High School graduate. He resides in Clark County and will be assigned a patrol area within the Sellersburg District upon completing his three-month field training program.
During this probationary period, Trooper Madden will work alongside veteran ISP troopers and receive the practical application to the training received throughout the formal academy.
While at the academy, the recruit completed over 1,200 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques and hands-on, scenario-based training.
After field training, Trooper Madden will be assigned a state police vehicle and begin solo patrol.
