NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Community Foundation has announced that Jennings County High School graduating senior Reann Grooms is a recipient of the 2023 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship.
Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are known for their community involvement, academic achievement, character, and leadership. Each Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides for full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment for four years.
The winner said, “When I found out that I received the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I broke down because all of my hard work had been recognized and rewarded. It still feels unreal. Now, I can attend Indiana University in Bloomington, work towards a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, and achieve my dream of becoming a secondary math teacher.
Grooms said she wants to give back to the community that gave me so much support, Jennings County, and hopes to return as a teacher. She concluded by saying, “I am deeply honored to be a 2023 Lilly Endowment Scholarship winner.”
