OGILVILLE, Ind. – A Bartholomew County REMC substation that serves the southwest quadrant of the county (Ogilville area) caught on fire Saturday morning and created a power outage for a portion of the county. The 9:30 a.m. fire was most likely triggered by lightning.
Crews were able to restore power to the northern part of the area. However, extensive damage from the blaze within the substation on the circuit for the approximate 500 customers in the southern part means that service will remain out while a mobile substation is trucked in from Spencer and hooked up to restore power.
Marty Lasure, Bartholomew County REMC Vice President of Communications/Member Services, said power was restored on Saturday evening.
