COLUMBUS, Ind. – The United States Army has announced that it will be conducting helicopter exercises in Columbus today, Friday, May 12.
During the height of the performances, the local community will see a marked increase in air traffic in and around Columbus.
These exercises are planned to be south of downtown to minimize disruption to homes in the area. They will occur during both the daytime and evening hours of May 12. Some of the air exercises may be low to the ground. The U.S. Army will provide security during these events.
Mayor Jim Lienhoop’s office is asking citizens to adhere to any requests of these officials while they are in the area. The City of Columbus will have first responders on standby in case an emergency was to arise. Should the need occur for a backup date for the exercises, they will be moved to Saturday, May 13.
