COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested on a variety of charges after a firearms incident last Saturday.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 7100 block of West State Road 46, at around 3:40 p.m., after receiving a report of shots being fired.
Jason Burns, 39 of Columbus, was apparently target shooting and the bullets were supposedly coming close to a neighbor’s house where children were playing in the front yard. the suspect allegedly stated to police that he was practicing shooting in his backyard towards his neighbor’s house to the north. While being detained, police say he tried to grab a firearm.
Burns was charged with five counts of criminal recklessness with a firearm and resisting law enforcement with a deadly weapon.
