COLUMBUS, Ind. — UPDATE: Police say Carolyn J. Jenkins, 85, of Columbus was attempting to park her Ford Escort when the vehicle went through the front doors of the business, per Lt. Matt Harris of the Columbus Police Department (CPD). Jenkins said she tried to use the vehicle’s brakes but they did not work, according to police.
ORIGINAL: The Columbus Police Department is investigating after a car crashed into the entrance of Central Cafe on Monday afternoon.
The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) was notified of the accident at about 11 a.m. and arrived to find a vehicle crashed into the front of the restaurant. No injuries were reported and firefighters determined the building sustained moderate structural damage. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
The Cafe will remain open, according to their Facebook page.
