COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) has announced the retirement of Capt. Tim Hughes, after over 35 years with the department. He joined CFD in 1987.
During his career, the Columbus firefighter rose through the ranks and earned officer promotions to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief.
He was a Paramedic Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Officer, and Fire Instructor, and also earned a nursing degree while at CFD.
Capt. Hughes retires from his current assignment serving as the Battalion-C Captain of fire station #2. His official retirement date was Wednesday, January 25.
