COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Clifford man is being accused by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) of trafficking drugs while behind bars.
On December 3, Shawn Timothy Gilley, 47, was brought into the Bartholomew County Jail (BCJ) on a parole violation, per BCSO. Law enforcement said it was discovered by jail staff that Gilley had brought drugs inside BCJ. Staff allegedly located nine grams of fentanyl, five grams of methamphetamine, and Suboxone pills.
Gilley was then taken to Columbus Regional Health for observation and clearance, the sheriff’s office said.
Preliminary charges include possession of fentanyl, possession of meth, and possession of Suboxone pills. He remains incarcerated without bond.
The jail was locked down and a thorough search of all cellblocks and inmates was completed as a safety precaution and nothing further was located, according to BCSO.
“Gilley has been in BCJ multiple times on drug-related offenses since 2014. This does not include other arrests on court orders and warrants,” Sherrif Matt Myers said. “My concern is the number of drugs that he trafficked into our facility and his very long history of drug-related arrests.”
