FRANKLIN, Ind. – A Franklin man was arrested Monday evening after authorities say he drove his car through a cornfield while he was under the influence.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was sent to Graham Road and County Road 400N, at 7:30 p.m., for a reported accident with injuries. Dispatch notified officers that a black truck with a trailer pulling lawn mowers pulled into the cornfield and shots were fired.
Deputies talked to the diver, Mark Douglas Wagner II, 36, and allegedly found a Glock 23 handgun and a plastic bag containing two grams of mushrooms in his vehicle.
The suspect refused a chemical test, After a search warrant was granted to JCSO, they transported him to Johnson Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. Wagner was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief for the damage done to the cornfield.
The Johnson County Prosecutor’s office will make the determination on the final, official charges.
