COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET), consisting of Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies and Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers, conducted an investigation in response to several overdoses that have plagued Bartholomew County over the past month.
As a part of the investigation, a traffic stop was initiated on a car on Tuesday. Following an alert by BCSO K9 Jari, about 23 grams of fentanyl were allegedly recovered.
After an additional search, JNET supposedly located more fentanyl, plus heroin, methamphetamine, and various other drug-related items. Officers say three firearms, one of which had been reported stolen, were also found.
Rondall Austin Kimbler, 25, of Columbus, was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail and charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug, dealing in meth, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of meth, and possession of paraphernalia. Kimbler remains incarcerated in lieu of a $287,500.00 bond.
