COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) welcomed its newest officer, Matthew Anderson, at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting on Tuesday at city hall. He was sworn in by Mayor Jim Lienhoop.
Officer Anderson is a graduate of Lafayette High School in Lexington, Kentucky, and later Georgetown College, where he played soccer and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Media Studies.
For the past six years, Anderson was an officer and a detective with the Colorado Springs Police Department, where he received a number of commendations including twice being awarded his department’s Medal of Valor.
Officer Anderson now begins orientation and in-service training at CPD in preparation for starting the field-training program later this spring.
