INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officer Dave Moss was recently selected as the 2020 District 6 Indiana Conservation Officer of the Year. He has been a DNR officer since 2009 and serves as an emergency vehicle operator instructor, CPR instructor, field training officer, sonar operator, and public relations officer.
Moss is assigned to Bartholomew County and DNR District 6, which also covers Johnson, Brown, Shelby, Hendricks, Morgan, Monroe, Hancock, and Marion counties.
The district award puts Moss in the running for the Pitzer Award, given to the top overall conservation officer in Indiana and selected from the 10 district award winners.
The Pitzer award is named after Indiana Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer, who was fatally shot while investigating illegal hunting activity in Jay County in January 1961.
