COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) superintendent Dr. Jim Roberts updated the board Monday evening on coronavirus statistics and the measures to address them.
Roberts said that, including students, teachers, and staff, 119 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since the semester began on August 10. If schools had been 100% open during that time, it is estimated that 700 people would have contracted the virus. There have been 21 hospitalizations and BCSC has a 17.4% positive test rate. He reiterated that the instruction model will be completely e-learning until at least after Thanksgiving.
In other business, the North High School golf team and the cross-county teams from both North and East were recognized for their achievements this year. North golfer Nathaly Munnicha received the Indiana High School Athletic Association 2020 mental attitude award. The North girls’ cross-country team placed third in the state for the season, while the boys’ team was the state champion.
