COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET) and Intelligence Led Policing (ILP) released information Friday about a conducted surveillance they performed on a residence in Heritage Heights on Wednesday. As a vehicle was leaving the house, a traffic stop was initiated and officers said they could smell the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
The driver, Christopher Keaton, 28, Columbus, allegedly admitted to having about a quarter pound of marijuana inside the vehicle, so a search of the car was conducted and a large amount of marijuana was supposedly found.
A search warrant was then obtained for the residence at 2707 Tyler Drive, in Columbus. From the house, officers allege they secured around 953 grams of marijuana, paraphernalia, a money counter, schedule 4 pills, a stolen handgun, about $5,000 in cash, and more.
Keaton was arrested and charged with two counts of dealing marijuana, two counts of possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen handgun, possession of a schedule 4 substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and a Bartholomew County warrant.
JNET is a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department, and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office.
