NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff Office recently purchased 10 sets of Stop Sticks (tire deflation devices) and eight adult/pediatric Automated External Defibrillators (AED). To obtain the items, the department applied for a grant through a foundation that supports law enforcement. The items purchased were of no cost to the tax payers of Jennings County.
Often times, law enforcement arrives before EMS and local fire departments and every second matters in a cardiac situation, so officers will have AEDs available.
Every patrol and detective vehicle at the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office will be equipped with Stop Sticks. The utilization of tire deflation devices drastically cuts down on crashes during vehicle pursuits, therefore reducing injuries and fatalities at the same time.
Sheriff Kenny Freeman says he will continue to seek tools and resources for a safer Jennings County.
