EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Trafalgar Fire Department was recently awarded a Regional Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) through FEMA. The regional grant included funds for the Trafalgar, Nineveh, Amity, and Edinburgh Fire Departments in southern Johnson County.
The award totaled $299,360. The grant money was used to purchase 100 portable radios for firefighters and 32 mobile radios for all the fire apparatus and stations. This equipment ensures that everybody on an emergency call has a means of communication.
Edinburgh Fire and Rescue received $71,750 as its portion of the grant, thus saving the community that expenditure. The funds are being used to purchase 21 handheld radios, eight mobile radios, and one base radio.
All of the fire departments worked and planned together to make the AFG award happen, and to achieve what is best for the residents of southern Johnson County.
