Since we are a little more than halfway through the year, I thought I’d share with you my five favorite songs from 2017 so far!
#5 Midland – Drinkin’ Problem
While this song is very simple lyrically, it’s also extremely catchy. I find myself humming it at least once per day if not more. Can’t wait to see more from Midland in the near future!
#4 Keith Urban/Carrie Underwood – The Fighter
Whenever you have two of the biggest stars in country music team up, you know it’s going to be a hit. I love how the song has an 80’s vibe to it with Keith’s guitar licks too. Keith and Carrie’s voices pair together so nicely and the song has a great message, which Keith wrote about his wife, Nicole Kidman.
#3 Chris Stapleton – Broken Halos
Chris Stapleton’s latest album “From A Room” Volume 1″ (named after the studio where he recorded it) has some fantastic tracks on it, but this is my favorite. It kicks off the album and sets the tone for what’s to come. Stapleton says the song is about “people who have passed away before their time.” I encourage to take a listen if you haven’t heard this awesome tune yet.
#2 Brett Young – In Case You Didn’t Know
The definitive love song of 2017 so far. “In Case You Didn’t Know” recently went Platinum and for good reason thanks to Brett Young’s swooning vocals. I’ve heard it over 100 times and it never gets old. I sing along with it every time it plays on KORN. Also, shameless plug. #1 Thomas Rhett/Maren Morris – Craving You
As soon as this song starts, you know it’s going to be a fun ride. Maren Morris is a nice addition to the track and compliments Thomas nicely on vocals. Also this is the best music video of the year so far in my opinion. Total action movie vibe from this one.
